Health and Dental Insurance

Well, I thought I was doing a good thing.  I got dental insurance (I thought). Turns out it was NOT insurance, but a discount program.  The dentist I was going to go to does not take the discount program only the insurance.  And because of the amount of work I need done, most insurers make you wait one year before they will cover you.  So I am back to needed 6-7 THOUSAND DOLLARS of which I have less than half of.  I have limited medical insurance so I asked the Doctor isn't there a point where your teeth are so bad that they are causing medical problems?  Yes said the Doctor, and if you (me) are not there yet, you (I) soon will be.  Then said I, if it is causing medical problems, will my medical insurance cover it?  Nope cause they don't cover dental.  Now, when my teeth cause infection they will treat with antibiotics knowing the infection will come back.  If my dental problems cause stroke or heart attack, (which they can do) they will treat that.  They will not however treat the cause of the problem.  But hey, there is no insurance crisis, right.
