Remember

We were having a fire last night in our "fire pit". It was a nice evening and we had not had one for a while.  I asked my son to break a piece of wood in half for me and all of the sudden I got very sad.  It brought back a memory of other fire.  My nephew Russell was here and we had some big pieces of wood that needed chopped.  He volunteered.  He had fun doing it and we all laughed and had a good time.  Russell passed away a year ago.  I don't think I ever told him, at least not once he got into and past his 20's what a special person he was.  I never told him that I loved him.  That we were family and I would always be there.  And I guess in the end I wasn't there.
So I think that we need to make sure that no matter how hard it is, we have to let the people in our lives no what they mean to us.  If you don't have the words find other ways to show them.  For me with Russell it is to late.  But hopefully I can learn and not be so complacent with the rest of those I love who are still here.
Be good.  Be safe and make sure you tell people that you care!!!
