4 Years

Wow, I can't believe I have been back in Ventura for four years this coming Tuesday (May 1).  I came back on May 1st 2008.  A lot has changed since then.  First, since 1993 when I moved to Bakersfield the first time, this is the longest I have stayed in either city (Bakersfield or Ventura.)  I am glad I am here.  I don't know why it took so many years to figure out this (Ventura) is the city I belonged in.  I thought I had more friends in Bakersfield so I kept going back.  As it turns out, they were only friends as long as it was advantagous to them. 
I can't deny that I had some really good times up there.  But I am definately glad to be back in Ventura. Since I havve gotten back this time I have FINALLY gone back to school, although it took me to long!!!  I have been at the same address for coming up on four years in August.  This is the third place I have lived since I got back to Ventura.  For me that also is a record.
I am doing well in school, and if the rest of my life is not everything I want to be, instead of running away, I am staying put and working on it.
I guess what I have learned these last 19 years that has finally brought me back to stay is that when things get difficult, you can't just up and start over.  It may work under the right circumstances, but not when you are trying to run away from everyday life and it's problems hoping that things will be better in a different place.
So, although I am unwilling to say that I will always live in Ventura, Ca. I am willing to say that if I do leave again it will be under the right circumstances.
Four years, wow, it's good to be home!!!
