"The majority is bringing up this resolution in order to embarrass the White House," Berman said on the House floor before the first vote. "They know it will fail. They want to continue to play games with U.S. national security. Let's be honest about what's happening here."
The preceeding paragrahph seems to be the problem. At some point politician of BOTH parties seemed to stop caring what was best, right and wrong. They decided the reason they were in Congress or the State Legislature was to make sure thier party was the in power. If embarrasing the other party means doing the wrong thing for the wrong reason, than so be it. I it happened slowing starting in the 80's. And I think for a time, some of the things they did for the wrong reasons ended up being the right thing for the Country. It seems, though, since 9/11 the problem gets worse each election cycle. How do we go back to finding canidates who are there because the want to do what is right regardless of the political fall out. I honestly don't know. We, the people, are just as responsible as they, the politicians are. We let it happen. We voted along party lines at the cost of honesty and integraty. So how do we undo it? I think if we all start at the local level that maybe in our kids and grandkids lifetimes we could go back to a time when politicians did the right things for the right reasons. I pray that that is what will happen I know I am guilty at the local level. I never thought who was on the City Council and the County Board of Supervisors was as important as Governer, Congress men and women and the President. I was wrong. Just my thoughts, how do you feel?
